A Whole-Person Approach to Care

Health involves relationships among the Soul, Mind, Nervous System, and Body, as well as daily habits and the surrounding environment. Concierge Acupuncture & Holistic Health Care considers these relationships alongside the concerns that bring a person to treatment.

Beverly Lawrence, Ph.D., L.Ac. brings her background in acupuncture and holistic practices to individualized, in-person care. A visit includes time to review health history, discuss current concerns, and select appropriate approaches based on the patient's needs, comfort, and preferences.

Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Acupressure

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture uses fine, sterile, single-use needles at selected points on the body. Point selection and treatment are individualized rather than following the same routine for every patient.

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine? Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of care that considers patterns and relationships throughout the body. Acupuncture is one part of this broader tradition, which also includes approaches such as dietary guidance, movement practices, manual techniques, and herbal medicine. Not every part of TCM is included in every visit.

What is acupressure? Acupressure uses touch or pressure at selected points without inserting needles. It may be included during a visit, and appropriate self-care techniques can be taught for use between appointments.

Are there options without needles? Depending on the person and the purpose of care, options may include acupressure or laser stimulation of selected points. Preferences and concerns about needles can be discussed before treatment.

How are traditional patterns considered? Five Element relationships, Yin and Yang, and other traditional frameworks help organize observations about the whole person. Health history, conversation, and observations such as tongue and pulse findings may inform the approach to care.

How does holistic care fit? Lifestyle, rest, nourishment, emotional patterns, and stress responses may be considered alongside physical concerns. Other approaches are discussed when appropriate, with an explanation of their purpose and the patient's agreement before they are included.
